The Royal Docks is situated in East London. Built in the 19th Century it was once one of the largest enclosed docks, built to accommodate the maritime trade of the British Empire. The Royal Docks is made up of three main docks: the Royal Victoria Dock, The Royal Albert Dock and the King George V Dock.

By the mid-20th Century, the docks fell into disuse and disrepair due to the decline in the shipping industry and changes in transport methods.
